God who cleanses us, God who renews us,
We come to you this morning in celebration. You are a God whose springs of grace and waters of life flow over us and in us, bringing us into new life. We come to you like a puzzle with missing pieces, longing for completeness. We know that you have the power to fill those voids, to make us whole once again.
Just like Caitlin and Olivia have felt today, we thank you for letting us swim in your everlasting waters. May we always feel the freshness of your presence and faith in us.
For some, today is a day of celebration. It is a day of milestones, of bright futures, of a hopeful beginning to a new chapter in life. For moments like these, we seek you so that we may praise you.
For some, today is a day of sorrow. It is a day of reflection on lives lost, burdens that have yet to be relinquished, and worry with no end in sight. For moments like these, we seek you so that you may provide refuge and a comforting hand. In these times, remind us that we do not need to be afraid for you have already conquered our fears. We can trust you with our whole heart and know that it is in good hands, the hands of a caring and loving God. Help us to remember that during the midst of change, you remain constant. Even when it feels like we haven't spoken in ages, we can call upon you and you will hear us. Help us to remember that eventually storms run out of rain, tears can be wiped away, and that the sun will indeed rise again.
Especially on this day of Pentecost, we pray that we are receptive of your Holy Spirit. We know that the Holy Spirit is among us and working through us, give us the wisdom to recognize it and the heart to use it. May the Holy Spirit warm our hearts so that we may warm the hearts of others. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we know that we are not alone and that you are dwelling among us in every moment of every day.
In the name of your son, the one who has traveled in our very steps, we lift this prayer to you,
Amen.
